Our Mission

The Northern Women’s Centre is a non-profit organization committed to supporting, educating, and advocating for the diverse needs of women in Northern British Columbia. We are dedicated to providing a 24-hour safe space for women and furthering gender equality.

The centre is located on the University of Northern British Columbia's Prince George campus. The openness of the NWC allows for the creation of a comfort zone and a feeling of safety for its many users. The encouragement women receive enable them to move forward to a greater degree of self-worth and self-esteem.

Our Vision

  • Since the formation of the Northern Women’s Centre in 1994, we have been focused on empowering women. By creating a safe space dedicated to self-identifying women only, we strive to create an atmosphere that provides women with the support they need without men in their space.

  • Through events, referrals, and in person support at the centre, we aim to encourage woman to be their best self. Our staff and volunteers can provide support necessary. Reach out!

  • Education is a priority to break down barriers women face daily. Year round, we hold various educational awareness campaigns and partner with local organizations to run events. Education is the key to ignorance and truly creating lasting change for women.
